For an easy shortcut, simply click on the icon for a need that needs a boost. Your Sim will automatically seek out a way to fulfill that need. The only exception is the Social need. Visiting and interacting with a neighbor improves that lickety-split.

Good Eats!
Eating a basic meal from the cauldron, oven, or spit results in the Bland Meal buff, which is a minor negative. Buy ingredients at the Village Shoppe or the town square market, or hunt for meat in the woods when making a meal. Cooking with these ingredients gives you positive buffs and, the rarer the ingredient, the higher the buff.
